Doctors with Africa Cuamm

Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM was the first non-governmental organization focused on healthcare to be recognized by the Italian government. It is now the country’s leading organization working to protect and improve the well-being and health of vulnerable communities in sub-Saharan Africa.
The NGO implements long-term cooperation programs intervening also in situations of emergency to ensure that services are available to all. Doctors with Africa CUAMM is also committed to field research as a tool to deliver increasingly effective results and it is currently partnering with both Italian academic institutions and the international scientific community.

The Organization is currently active in 9 sub-Saharan countries namely Angola, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda. CUAMM supports public and non-profit hospitals and local districts, nursing and midwives schools and university. Interventions target the weakest population groups and include prevention, screening and treatment programmes; development or strengthening of referral systems at community level; training of health staff; management support and technical assistance to local health institutions.

CUAMM's international and national staff work together on the front line to strengthen local health systems, in resource-limited contexts where the commitment and contribution of the individual can make a real difference.

This is why we are always looking for skilled and motivated people who are ready to join us to collaborate on our projects 'with Africa'.

With regard to health professionals, we generally include in our projects: medical specialists (gynaecologists, infectivologists, internists, paediatricians, surgeons), Public Health experts, nurses and midwives, pharmacists.
