Dear colleagues, partners, and friends,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the 14th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH), organized under the auspices of the Federation of European Societies for Tropical Medicine and International Health (FESTMIH). Since the first Congress organised in 1995, and after 30 years of commitment in global health, ECTMIH comes back to Hamburg bringing together leading researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and global health advocates. ECTMIH 25 will be hosted by the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM) and in partnership with the German Society for Tropical Medicine, Travel Medicine and Global Health (DTG).

The content of this 14th ECTMIH addresses pressing challenges in the wide domain of global health, placing the lens on health problems that are faced by millions daily, often ignored or overlooked. Such as: the emerge and re-emerge of infectious diseases, which require a multidisciplinary one health approach; the impact of climate change on health; the health challenges of migration and displacement, and the ongoing need to promote equity in global health. The ECTMIH 2025 theme reflects our commitment to collaboration, innovation, and sustainable solutions to build a healthier and more equal planet.

This congress serves as a vital platform for knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and partnership-building. Through keynote speeches, interactive sessions, and cutting-edge research presentations, we aim to inspire action and translate research into policy to achieve a better health for all in a changing world.

Your engagement and expertise will make the 14th ECTMIH a transformative experience.

Welcome to ECTMIH 2025! Let’s work together for a healthier and more equitable future.

Marco Albonico, President
on behalf of the FESTMIH Board
