Dear colleagues, partners, and friends,

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I welcome you to the 14th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH) in Hamburg, Germany - a pivotal event in the global health calendar. This congress, organized by the Bernhard-Nocht-Institut (BNITM) under the auspices of the Federation of European Societies for Tropical Medicine and International Health (FESTMIH), brings together experts, policymakers, researchers, and healthcare professionals to address the most pressing challenges in tropical medicine and global health.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Tropenmedizin, Reisemedizin und Globale Gesundheit (DTG) is honored to have this important event - after 30 years - back in Germany, which reflects our shared commitment to addressing the global health challenges that affect millions of people worldwide. As a society, we have long championed the integration of research, practice, and policy to ensure that the voices of those affected by tropical diseases and health disparities are heard. Our ongoing efforts to support sustainable, evidence-based solutions in health are aligned with the overarching goals of the ECTMIH congress.

This year’s congress is timely, as we continue to face critical challenges such as the emergence of new infectious diseases, the growing impact of climate change on global health, and the health inequities exacerbated by migration and displacement. These challenges call for innovative solutions, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to equity in health. The discussions and partnerships forged here at ECTMIH 2025 will play a crucial role in shaping the future of global health.

Through stimulating sessions, engaging discussions, and sharing cutting-edge research, we will move closer to finding sustainable solutions that will help build a healthier, more equitable world for all. The DTG is proud to be part of this journey, working alongside colleagues and partners in the fight for a healthier global community.

Together, we can continue to make meaningful strides toward improving health and well-being across the globe.

Welcome to ECTMIH 2025!

Let’s work together for a healthier and more equitable future.
